Toronto, We Need to Talk. Yesterday on a YRT bus to Wonderland (Bus 306, 2218 at 3 pm) , two young boys filmed my daughter and her friend without consent and shared the footage over video call, saying, “Look at these pretty girls.” My daughter and her friend made a scene as they should and I am so proud. I have told her to get loud and call attention whenever anything happens. I backed them up. So did a brave young man and the bus driver. One of the boys continued to hurl profanity. I didn’t call the police in time. But I’m not letting this go. ✅ An official report has been made to YRT. 🎥 There are cameras on that bus. 👮🏽‍♀️ York Region Police say they “can’t tell people how to behave.” So let’s show them. If you know these boys: name and shame them. We raise daughters who know their worth. Raise sons who know what respect means. These videos are tame, he called me a B**** even after he knew I was the mom and possibly old enough to be his mom. As he got off he continued to mock me and say

Speak up. Get loud. Teach your children: objectifying girls is not harmless. It’s violence. These boys need to be held accountable, not just for my daughter, but for every girl who has ever been objectified, filmed, or harassed in public and told to "calm down" or "take it as a compliment." What happened on that bus is not harmless. It is a reflection of what we’re still tolerating and we shouldn’t be. If you recognize them, speak up. If you’re raising sons, teach them. If you're raising daughters, teach them to raise hell if they have to. I stand with my daughter.
