I live near the hood and the residents can't take care of nothing. not their property, the businesses, the streets, and there is almost always violence. grandpa called those residents "Hoodrats".

Sundown Towns are referred to as that for historical purposes. Obviously those type of laws don’t exist or they’re not enforced because of Civil Rights violations. Shit has changed for the better.

My grandparents lived in a sundown town and I had no idea about any of it until much later in life. My grandmother was in her 90s and talking about the town and I put it all together. Thankfully, whatever they all thought about it went over my head as a kid.
