@scott_mcgillivray: Capital gains tax in Canada now in effect. What does this change mean for #realestateinvesting? #capitalgains #capitalgainstax #investing #realestate
Gov is garnishing more money from hardworking people and we’ll continue to see such waste and mismanagement cause it’s not their money.

I think if they would have increased capital gains tax while simultaneously reducing everyone’s income tax it would have been a lot more popular.

Amount of people crying about this tax who would never even make $250,000 income in a year is crazy

Basically it’s a tax that forces the 1% to pay their share. Most Canadians (99%) won’t be affected. If you are against that, it means that your asking for more taxes for middle class

It’s still gonna drive out more investment from Canada and the rich will find loopholes anyways. It’ll drive out more doctors and their practices to the states. This guy AND Trudeau are morons.

The fact that we’re arguing about new taxes is all I need to hear. How about NO new taxes. Why didn’t they reduce spending somewhere else and reduce taxes to the working class. Liberals just wont

if Scott has all his assets in his personal name I would be surprised. they would be in a corporation. for liability. he will be taxed on every dollar of gain. 250000 doesn't apply.

Mr. C :
Most people will never incur this. If you are wildly fortunate enough to ever pay more, that’s still a lower tax rate than people who earn way less. And it’s still lower cap gains than we had recently

If you’re taxed at an 18% rate, and you get hit with that additional 9%, that’s a 50% increase on what your obligation was.

It means you inflated the dollar so high that you can reap large swaths of revenue off the average taxpayer in the mask of taxing the wealthiest.

Sooo if you have a second property and you renovate ( out of your own pocket) and then sell you are taxed at a higher rate regardless of how much for your efforts. It is not justified.

Freeland kept saying it was to make the wealthy pay more than the lower income ppl. Then the govt could use that money for their social causes. What’s wrong with the money they already take? Who pays
