@basicallylindabelcher: After reading thousands of comments on my 1st skit on this topic, this very distinct pattern emerged. The most violent & discrimatory experiences followers talked about were almost exclusively (it's not an exaggeration to say 99%) reserved for more marginalized people - BIPOC, femmes & women, queer, gender non-conforming, working class ex cons, etc. It got to the point that I started making bets with myself about what demographic I would find when I went to a commenter's page. I wasn't so much surprised by this pattern existing as I was by the stunning consistency of it. To be clear, there were still a massive number of legitimately traumatized white gender-conforming dudes in my comments sharing their own painful experiences, many of which broke my heart, but the most dramatic stuff -- being humiliated by a teacher in front of a class or a boss in front of a board room, being arrested during routine traffic stops for using big (respectful) words with an officer, being written up or even fired for using "big" words, being beaten up by parents or partners -- these were *nearly* without exception relayed to me by marginalized people. Caveat: as I spoke of in part 2, it is contingent on us to make accommodations for those who genuinely can't understand us - but I think we should do this without permanently changing our default setting with everyone in all social interactions for the soul purpose of soothing the bruised egos of the kind of allistics who malign our characters or insist we have malicious intent. I thank my commentors for showing me more clearly what a crucial tool in fighting systems of oppression our vocabularies are. They would not be trying to disarm us with such vehemence if this were not so powerful. Keep the words. #actuallyautistic #neurodivergent #audhd #audhder #fyp #bo#BookTokgbtqia #LGBT #intersectionality #antiracist

Ooooh. That’s why people call me ‘articulate’ but don’t mean it as a compliment. 🙈

I’ve been teased all my life about my vocabulary. I ascribe that to my parents encouraging us to read and read voraciously. You pulled 95% of this straight out of my head. Eek! I’ve been seen! 😳

big words also have more specific meaning than common ones, which ideally should lead to less misunderstandings but is rarely received that way.

this is the main reason why I don't use larger vocabulary... when I tend to articulate others believe I am talking down to them!!!

People have gotten angry with me for using complex words and told me to "talk normal," but I find when I try to simplify my sentences, my accuracy and articulation suffers. I end up stuttering

OMG... this is so on-point and correct. Hearing this was akin to swimming in a giant dark endless ocean and suddenly coming upon an empty and fully stocked life raft. Thank you so much for sharing🥰

Would it be at all possible for you to please post this to your YouTube? I'd really love to share this with my students, but can't use TikTok for that, annoyingly. 🙃

These are all my traits. But I have ADHD and don’t even register on the spectrum when assessed for autism. Could these just be neurodivergent symptoms generally not autism specific?

I wrote a paper in hs, didn’t receive it back for a month, it was literally an English paper and the teacher seemed annoyed that after a month they couldn’t find evidence of plagiarism.

This is why I stopped talking when I was a kid. it's also why I encourage my daughter when she uses big words, and I gently remind her to be aware of the people she's talking with, because while it's perfectly acceptable language, someone might take it wrong, so clarify if you notice they might be offended.
