I’m from Plett.. moving to CPT, people couldn’t place my Afrikaans and always asked why do I speak fluently when it’s not necessary. I started mixing just to sound chilled..😂😩

This !!! I’m a coulered from Cape Town and I went to an Afrikaans School and whenever I speak Afrikaans they ask me where I’m from because my Afrikaans is too “suiwer”😭

I have heard this so often and I hate it so much. I am from a coloured area but went to a predominantly white school (like only coloured person in the grade) and I lost my accent overtime.

I lived in George for a long time . I’m not coloured but I used to go to Rosemore and Pacs for church . And coloured people in church taught me “proper” Afrikaans and when I got to CPT I shocked
