** $1,010 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** **Extended** Still in need of foster and rescue!! Ashley's original owner passed away, and she was taken in by a family member. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroid, and while it was being managed for a time, her new owner could no longer afford her ongoing care. Ashley was also reported to have issues using the litterbox, but it's not clear if those are related to her thyroid, or what we discovered was an abscessed an4l gland. While manageable, Ashley's hyperthyroid has been unchecked for a while, and she's significantly underweight. We also are not sure how extensive her an4l gland issue is, but at the time of her exam, it was fairly painful. Medical Notes Veterinary Exam, 10/25 : Eyes - nuclear sclerosis OU. Pupils equal, reactive. +menace Ears - waxy debris AU Mouth - MM pink, mild diffuse calculus and gingivitis Skin - focal region of alopecia in the left perianal region. I walked her on a leash and she hung out front almost every night on a [leash]." In her kennel, Ashley is calm and gentle, but activates when pet. She has kind of a grumpy face, but she particularly enjoys scratches to her ears. Ashley is an older gal, estimated to be about fourteen, and her owner expressed concerns about her vision and hearing. During our medical exam, we found her pupils to be reactive with an appropriate menace response. We think that Ashley has a chance to enjoy some more time with us, and spend those golden years comfortably. We would really like to see this old lady out of the shelter and into a home where she can regain her strength and be comfortable.
