In everything, give thanks.” Thankfulness is an expression of one’s acknowledgement and appreciation of the Almighty Father—His love, His mercy, His grace, His blessings, His provision, and His sovereign work in our lives. It is our reverent recognition of him as the Source of all. (Psalm 92:1-2; James 1:17) It is one of the most important elements of worship. When one’s heart is attuned to God, thankfulness naturally overflows. (Psalm 69:30; Psalm 95:1-2; Psalm 100:4; Hebrews 13:15) Remember that a prideful heart is a thankless heart and is at enmity with God. (Psalm 10:4; Psalm 12:3; Proverbs 4:19) Gratitude keeps us from the snare of pride because we realize that what has been given to ys us simply because of His grace and favor (Colossians 2:6-7) While ingratitude breeds envy, entitlement and greed, being thankful protects us from bitterness. We express thankfulness in every aspect of our lives - whether favorable or not, because they are for our good (Romans 8:28; Colossians 3:15) Avoid the pitfalls of ingratitude by nurturing the spirit of meekness. Counting your blessings leads to peace of mind and rest of your soul.
