What do you do to seal it? I feel like overtime the oils from your hands will start to break down the paint

I did this and it lasted a decade before I could afford to replace them. They still all looked good when I took them down.

I wasn't up to removing our doors alone so I taped off the hinges and sprayed them in place. 10 years later they still look great.

hinges will flake unevenly the first time the door is opened but for the most part will be fine. door knobs will be okay for a while. Screws and strike plates? come on. (painter)
