I definitely felt more insecure about this as a younger designer, but now it’s kind of hilarious to me lol. I can literally only draw stick figures, but I can design awesome websites, graphics, etc

Able to draw and amazing sketchers/painters/illustrators are very different from each other. And I do believe designers HAVE to able to sketch, to make a simple, basic idea of what they want to do.

I’ve always had a huge disconnect between the 2. If I can get my idea out faster in Illustrator (95% of the time), that’s what I’m using first.

if you're going to sketch with a pen and paper, do some warmups to loosen your arm up and make your lines more confident! plenty of ideas on youtube

It can help to be able to work out ideas and composition before moving to the screen but you don’t need to be super skilled at it. Thumbnails can be just scribbles. 😀
