Because interaction on a post after posting can help the algorithm to know whether or not people enjoy the post and if the algorithm should push it out to a wider audience This is also why posting at your optimal time can help your content gain traction quicker after posting because your audience is active and most likely to engage with your content Now this doesn’t mean that if you have no engagement right after posting that the content won’t do well, it just means that it may take longer to pick up traction (all the more reason to give the post time to marinate before you determine its success!) All that being said, you don’t need to spend hours engaging on the post after posting and you definitely don’t need to refresh your account 100x My routine is… post, engage for 5 minutes after posting (when life permits), jump off the app, and then check on the post one other time during the day to respond to more comments (again, if life permits). Then 2 weeks after posting, I’ll look at the posts performance to see how I want to repurpose it or if I need to tweak things! Why 2 weeks? I’ve found that’s a good amount of time to see how the content has performed Can you have a post go viral 2 weeks after posting? Yes. I’ve had several pieces of content go viral 4-6 weeks after posting (my most recent viral piece took off 6 weeks after posting actually) Can you have a post go viral the day it’s posted? Also yes! But *generally* speaking 2 weeks is a good time frame to look at performance [side note: it’s better to post something then to not post at all - so even if it’s not at your optimal time and even if you don’t have time to interact on the content after posting, still post it!] Want support with turning viewers into followers and then followers into customers?
