@outdoors_allie: All gravy baby 😊 Tips for grinding meat: - chill the meat (you want it nearly frozen) - chill the grinder parts - cut into chunks or strips - add fat (I didn’t have any on hand today, but I like to add up to 20% beef or pork fat) - seal with a vacuum sealer and smush the bags into flat, stackable packages (I am using the @avidarmor USV 20 here)

Very good way to utilize venison. Coming from a guy that gets 10 or so a year. shoot plenty, most areas need extra does shot anyway.

I thought you weren't supposed to freeze and refreeze meat?

Can’t help but notice you don’t remove the sinew from the venison before grinding. I would not eat those cuts. That deer would taste very gamy. Give it a try, I bet you’ll love it.

So I’m new to butchering my own deer do I need to get all the silver skin and all that stuff off of the meat or does it really matter? I’m going to be canning a lot of it but also grinding it but also

Since I have been hunting with my brothers. We hunt for all of our families. So many deer get ground whole and so many get butchered. We do it all in house from grinding to smoked sausage and salami.

So you take it out frozen, soften it and then freeze it again?

👋 question! Our roasts and other cuts are in a deep freezer. Is it safe/okay to defrost them to grind? Or is that a no no?

We did a quarter cow one year and I told them to grind everything that wasn't a tenderloin or ribeye.

How long do you chill the grinder parts for? And in the freezer or the fridge?

honestly who cares what you do with your meat I know I would get more use out of ground venison but outhers might use more specific cuts as long as your showing respect to the animals and not wasting it

dont be ashamed but consider the meals you have with ground meat may be just as good with strips or cubes. Also premium cuts make premium ground meat.

When my boys were growing up we'd keep a few roasts but grind the majority. So much more ground can be used for

When we have enough of the other cuts to last us, we’ll get a couple deer that we grind entirely because we have 5 kids and use a lot of ground meat. Except for backstrap and tenderloin.
