First 4th in our house was 2021…took our dog for a walk around 3. Neighbor started popping off fireworks. The sheer panic my dog had. So ticked on the 4th.

My friend told me when I got my first dog when fireworks or a storm happens ignore that it’s happening. If we freak out they will too. My dog sleeps through all of these things lol

Thank-you. When our dog was a puppy we gave him PB kongs whenever there were fireworks and stayed calm ourselves. Thankfully he is fine now.

This year we had the tv on and played with him tug or catch with a soft toy whenever there was noise. He eventually tuckered out and fell asleep

yep crate with a sheet over it, ac on, and TV on as soon as they started popping off. made sure she got dinner and a leashed potty break early.

Love these! I’ve had all kinds of dogs over many years & think some have much more sensitive hearing. Most didn’t mind so much. My current Aussie/Heeler mix cries in pain at loud, high pitched sounds.

We have been lucky with our boys. We never worked on desensitization, they were just never afraid. We were shocked the first time they heard thunder and fireworks and didn’t flinch.
