Elantra G4GC engine. In my third world country I just did a engine rebuild. Between parts, machine work, & labor it was a $1200 expense. In the US it should be way cheaper than down here. Do it!

Honestly that Hyundai engine was pretty solid, I have a 07 Elantra with that exact engine and it has almost 200k now and doesn’t burn a drop of oil

i remember my 04 Corolla radiator blew and I drove it 30 miles between 2 days without it, total repairs came out to 245 with radiator and fan repair

If the body on the car is still pretty good they could just swap the engine out for another junkyard engine that's good. That would honestly probably be cheaper than buying a new car.
