@prokesfamily: While we were at Windang Island, we saw old wheels and learned about the late 19th-century plans to mine coal and build a harbour within Lake Illawarra. Despite their efforts in the 1890s, heavy tides and financial hurdles led to the project's abandonment by the early 1900s. Today, you can still see remains like old rails and trolley wheels used for transporting rock.
