now make wood inserts for each side of the mattress to take away that open space and the mattress will fit better and give them an edge to place games or phones whatever

I suggest filling in the cracks between the walls and bed with pillows or foam so the bed doesn’t slide too much and stuff doesn’t fall through!

This is such a cute idea! I'd highly suggest black out curtains for that window, though. Just so they don't have sun shinning in their eyes first thing in the morning and it's not radiating heat.
