@keds_economist: What happens when #socialsecurity runs out of money? What if it ends? The biggest losers will be young people. #retirement #retire #young #youth #families #generations #boomer #millennial #genz #genx #taxes #benefits
I never thought about how SS benefits the young people too. Thanks for your insight.

I've heard that the politicians have plundered the account to fund other parts of government. is that true?

That is unfair to the vast majority of workers who pay tax on 100% of their earnings

Great benefit to young people, but isn’t this sort of a straw man? I understood the concerns on social security to be that the boomer and gen x populations paid in excess to the program, but the (1/?)

it takes all my mother's SS and Medicare to pay for her assisted living with dementia. I couldn't pay that and my student loans and I'm 58.

What will happen when congress adds a cutoff age? Like everyone born after 2005 is no longer part of SS but older people aren’t cut off

You really help people understand the full (or more full anyway) economic analysis of things, rather than just the primary impact. That's so important! The secondary & tertiary effects can be dramatic

I would bet (for MOST people) that people get more back out of SS than they put in. And it's a guaranteed program as it was designed. As you said tho, fewer workers will impact % of benefits
