@keith.crossley1: Every week of venting to your therapist isn’t true healing. While it’s essential to feel validated in the moment, true progress means moving beyond the need for therapy. Break free from the hamster wheel of victim mentality. Acknowledge your experiences, seek empathy, but also decide not to be a perpetual victim. Healing goes beyond validation. It’s about growth. #healing #therapy #therapist #progress

TheNeverEndingStory :
He either has never been to a therapist or had a really bad one. Never heard of one that just sits there and let's you vent, let alone validating you like that.

Unless a therapist is helping you see where patterns started in childhood and healing from there- it is such a hamster wheel.

For some people their therapist is the only safe outlet they have.

I looked at therapy as a way to help me from drowning, but I had to put in the work to get out of the water.

some ppl only feel safe to express themselves in a safe space like therapy. building safety and trust first is ok... then move on to changing patterns

I like my therapist and see him less and less. He taught me to believe in myself, so any moment of doubt, I remember his lessons and it helps me feel more confident, in my own.

Basically someone validating me is exactly what I needed in an emotionally neglectful home. To be able to just have a safe space with someone who could understand to unpack my thoughts and put it into words. Reflect, recognise process my own patterns and my familys patterns to avoid in future arguments.

This is 100% true. However, if your therapist is helping you take action towards achieving your goals, that’s healing. Just talking about problems isn’t healthy.

I went to a therapist a couple of times in life to avoid trauma dumping on friends & family. A few sessions changed my life for the better 100%.
