@sayitoncedogtraining: Day 3. Introduction to No, and leash pressure. (Add questions below ⬇️) Today we are going to build on the command place, but learn the value of pressure on, and off, with the timing of the word no. This will work identically as the word yes. When you are saying the word no, mean it. This doesn’t mean you are going to shout like a drill Sargent, but don’t be weak, as your energy matters. When you say your word no, try and be still, just like when saying yes. Allow your dog to hear the word without seeing your body flail all over the place, no pun intended. After you’ve said no, apply firm, but not overwhelming, pressure on the leash until your dog gets back to the place bed. IMMEDIATELY release the pressure once your dog is back, and back away from your dog to remove the pressure of your body (we call this spatial pressure) as well. Start the reward clock over, and get back to winning again. During your training, you want a B+ student. If your dog is doing the training 100 percent correct, are you really pushing your dog? If they are doing it right 50 percent, they will hate the training, and not want to commit. At this point, we are not ready to add in leash corrections, or anything other than introducing pressure on and off, and getting you, the human, used to the timing of the words yes/no. Talk less during your training sessions, I guarantee you are saying too many words, or repeating, cough cough, Say It Once Dog Training. ⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #adventuredogs #adventuredogsofficial #DogTraining #doggo #hikingwithdogs #dogphotography #doggie #dogsofinsta #hikingdog #hikingdogsofinstagram #dogslife #catsofinstagram #dogsonadventures #ilovedogs #petlovers #adventuredog #husky #instadogs #poodle #theruffoutdoors #pug #instagramdogs #thegreatoutdogs #optoutside #explorewithdogs #puppydog #rescuedogsofinstagram #gsdofinstagram #doglove #dogsthathike

Working on place with my 12 week old pup. Any more than 5 seconds without a yes and treat, he gets up. How long until he should be able to space it out? I know he’s just a baby!

Do you recommend teaching place in addition to kennel training? And if so is the “place” bed different than the kennel?
