70-75lbs is pretty good. I'd try an 80. but I think anyone shooting 80+ is gonna have short practice sessions. a few shots a day max.

the deer can't be too dead. you should use the heaviest bow you can handle. kinda like rifles, there is no downside to having more power. up to a poin

bows are so efficient now, shooting 80#'s is wildly unnecessary. you wear out limbs and strings twice as fast as a 70# bow. just not necessary.

I'll stick with my 60 lb draw. I don't shoot over 35 yards either. but it really comes down to what your comfortable with.
