I’ve been trying to process everything going on with the ICE raids in LA right now and honestly…I can’t. I’m the daughter of immigrants, and seeing immigrant families living in fear and being torn apart is fucking heartbreaking. I live in Los Angeles—a city built by immigrants, shaped by cultures, stories, sacrifices. And yet right now, it feels like we’re under siege. People are warning each other where ICE might show up and it just feels so fucking surreal. Families are afraid to step outside. Children are being separated from their mothers. Children are being KIDNAPPED. As someone who talks so openly about wanting to become a mom, I can’t begin to imagine the pain of having your child torn from your arms. Not because you did anything wrong, but because of how you look, how you speak, where you came from. It’s enraging. It’s inhumane. And it’s not about policy—this is racism emboldened. It’s the result of years of dehumanization normalized by people in power. It’s the echo of a government that tells us: You don’t belong here. You’re not safe here. You’re not wanted. But we do belong. Our families built this country. We come from resilience that has been passed down for generations by our immigrant families and now it’s our turn to show up for our communities, to protect each other, and to fight for the right to fucking exist. Because we are not alone. And we are not backing down. ———————— If you don’t feel safe going out and protesting, it’s totally understandable. Here are some resources to check out if you want to get involved in other ways: @chirla_org @carecen_la @inclusivaction @immdef_lawcenter #NoKings #NoKingsDay
