@therealbennydong: Day 8 - Which macros actually matter? I tell my clients all the time that we aren’t bodybuilders so there’s no need to train and eat exactly like one. But we can take the tools they use like calorie tracking and modify it for our goals. To lose weight is simple, calories in and calories out. To build and maintain muscle means you need protein. After that, having an exact macronutrient profile for carbs and fats doesn’t matter as much as long as your protein targets are hit and so are your calories. There is an amount of fat we all need to survive and for our hormones to function which is why I recommend having at least 20% if your calories come from fat. (Which isn’t much) But after that, it just comes down to whatever you prefer. As long as you hit your protein which is about 1g per lb of body weight and you stay within your calorie goals, you’ll be just fine. You can treat tour fat and carbs like a sliding scale. If you want to have steak tonight, then cut down some carbs to make up for the extra fat. If you want to have some carbs before you train, choose a leaner piece of protein or skip the peanut butter. It’s not that hard, don’t let all the fear mongering on the internet get to you because this fitness thing should be simple.
