@awesomeframers: That's what. . . Why do we have to use these straps? To hold the shear wall down. Shear walls resist lateral forces (racking). They need to be anchored to avoid "overturning". @Simpson Strong-Tie STHD14 tie down embedded into the concrete and nailed to the shear wall provide the tie down. . What about siding? Won't it telegraph through the siding? Not if we install it correctly. Plus as siders we have all the skills needed to make them invisible. #engineering #framersareadyingbreed #framer #huberpartner #strongtie
