I'm honestly FLOORED that so many industries have all become ruled by one company and there is no fail-safes in place? no backup systems? idk but not being able to access patient charts SEEMS IMPORTAN

So I used to work in technology/emergency management and was laid off :) so they’re laying the people off who would deal with these types of things

Honestly this is why companies need to hire people with anxiety because we already think of all the things that can go wrong so we should get paid for it.

I went into command prompt, deleted the CrowdStrike file and rebooted. All good. You’re right about the panic.

Hospitals do not invest in proper technology. I’ve seen hospitals in 2020 still using windows xp I was disgusted

Compliance here 🙋♀️, regulation/requirement’s wise they’re supposed to review and update it regularly. Do they? Absolutely not, they slap a new yr date on the BC/DR Plan and call it a day.

Why don’t the airlines have a never down policy?! I ask myself this about EVERY COMPANY EVER.

Most places say it won’t happen so they don’t even invest in DR or preventative measures across multiple agencies and areas. 😭

It’s like with the whole United Healthcare/CHC disaster. No backup plan, just panic

In the hospitals we have down time and use paper charting. Other than charting, everything else carries on as usual.

I don’t understand how they don’t have backup. Yesterday I went to a UPS store and everything was working fine. The owner said he paid $50 a month for his backup 😳

FR 2 hospitals I’ve worked at have had tech breaches & they hold patient info hostage until the hospitals pay.. which they usually don’t so it prolongs the breach

My job had a month long down time earlier this year. Were we prepared then? No. But we were sure as hell ready for it this time😂

I agree!!! I became a nurse in 2019 and have never ONCE seen a paper chart or learned how to use it. I don’t think I need to be proficient at it but should be able to pick it up

I used to work on an EHR team and we would have yearly DR drills. One of the drills came in very handy when we were hit with ransomware the next year.

In hospitals we do have downtime procedures because our IS do go down a lot but it is an absolute nightmare the longer it lasts especially in the lab. The patients get the same care but slower.
