Harris talked about Biden's "honesty, his integrity, his commitment to his faith and his family, his big heart, and his love — deep love — of our country." "I am firsthand witness that every day, our president, Joe Biden, fights for the American people. And we are deeply, deeply grateful for his service to our nation," she said at a White House event Monday celebrating NCAA championship teams. Biden announced Sunday that he would not run for reelection and endorsed Harris for the top of the ticket. The president's withdrawal from the race came after concerns among Democrats about his age and ability to do the job for another four-year term. Biden will turn 82 in November. While Biden endorsed Harris, and she has received the backing of many elected Democrats, party leaders and organizations, the Democratic Party still has to determine how to award its presidential nomination.
