@feared.texas: Melvindale, Michigan – On a Sunday; July 21st, 2024 – On a Early Sunday afternoon, officers received a report of a suspicious individual at a gas station in Melvindale, Michigan. Melvindale Police Corporal Mohamed Said was first to respond to the location. Once he attempted to speak to the individual, who was later identified as a convicted felon on parole, the male took off running on foot. Corporal Said immediately engaged him in a foot pursuit and after a struggle, deployed his taser to subdue him. The suspect pulled out a gun and fatally shot the officer at close range before fleeing the scene on a bicycle. Corporal Said’s killer was apprehended earlier today (Monday – July 22nd, 2024) following a day long manhunt. Corporal Mohamed Said served the Melvindale Police Department for just 14 months. Mohamed was remembered as respectful, smart and dedicated to his community. He was passionate about his career in law enforcement and was one of only a few Yemini-American police officers in all of Michigan. One of Mohamed’s last posts on Facebook was about a recent encounter with a citizen that he previously helped; and how simple, small gestures of kindness can mean the world to people. Corporal Mohamed Said was 23-years old. The suspect, Michael Lopez was taken into custody in Southwest Detroit, Michigan. The suspect was in cuffs that belong to Ofc. Mohamed Said.
