@pbsnews: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress on Wednesday. Dozens of Democratic lawmakers, including Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris decided not to attend the speech. Outside the capitol, thousands of demonstrators protesting Israel’s military action in Gaza clashed. Police used pepper spray to disperse protesting crowds and made at least 6 arrests. In his speech, Netanyahu condemned the protesters, who he said stood with Hamas terrorists. He maintained IDF forces are not targeting civilians in Gaza and called on Hamas to surrender, disarm and return all hostages. Netanyahu also thanked President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump for their support of Israel. In the hours before Netanyhu’s address in Washington, D.C., 70 Palestinian civilians were reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. Over 1,100 people were killed in the Oct. 7 attacks, about 250 were initially taken hostage by Hamas.
