I’m a CPST - recommend to keep in a harness until they hit the limits. Bare minimum is Age 4 and 40lbs. Id wait until closer to age 6

My son is 4ft3 and nearly 60 pounds and still in a 5 point. 5 points go until like 100 pounds so he’s never leaving hahaha

My oldest was 4. But he met the height and weight requirements. My middle is 3 and will probably be closer to 5 before he is.

Most 5 pt harnesses will have a weight limit. That's when I have always switched 😊

I have Graco extend to fit. The seat can be extended out for rear facing up to 50lbs. Then forward facing for up to 60lbs.

Many seats require you to remove the extra padding (the teal cushions) when using them forward facing. Worth checking your manual!

my daughter is 5 ½ and still in a harness, I don't see that changing anytime soon. I did get her an unbuckle me so she can unbuckle on her own and has a little for independence

My son is 44 Inches, 45lbs and 5 years old. We just moved him into a booster when school started. his school is carpool only and we are not allowed to get out of the car and they do not buckle them in

I think it's atleast 40lbs for most carseats and they should be atleast 4. but I think the bigger factor is if they will reliably keep the seat belt where it goes without fiddling with it or moving it

Our car seat has a max weight of 65 pounds or 49 inches whichever is first to switch to a booster. My 3 year old is already 40 inches so we will likely hit the height first but I’m anticipating

Children’s bones finish the ossification process around age 5! That means their bones will be hard like an adults! So, I’d go with after 5 or when she maxes out her seat!
