@cspanofficial: Former President Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benajamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, their first meeting since Mr. Trump left the White House more than three years ago. The confab follows the prime minister’s record fourth address to Congress on Wednesday and separate meetings with President Biden and Vice President Harris on Friday, after which the vice president reiterated her commitment to Israel’s security but also raised concern with how the country is conducting the war in the Gaza. The prime minister said he was concerned the vice president’s remarks may have harmed the prospects for a ceasefire and hostage release deal. “I think to the extent that Hamas understands there’s no daylight between Israel and the United States, that expedites the deal,” he told reporters. “And I would hope that those comments don’t change that.” Mr. Trump called the remarks from the vice president, his new Democratic opponent, “disrespectful to Israel.” “They weren’t very nice pertaining to Israel,” he said. “I actually don’t know how a person who is Jewish could vote for her, but that’s up to them.” The relationship between Mr. Trump, who fashions himself the most pro-Israel president in history, and Mr. Netanyahu has soured over the years, with the former president becoming infuriated that Mr. Netanyahu congratulated President Biden on his 2020 election victory.
