Real answer: Rd=a throughway that connects 2 points. St=a Rd that also has buildings on both sides. Ave=runs perpendicular to St & has buildings and/or trees on both sides. Blvd=a wide St w/medians.

In Miami where we use the grid system all “Streets” run East to West and all “Avenues” run North to South. Can’t explain the rest tho
