Nakayama Festa was a rebellious and really hard horse to train (likely inherited from her father, Stay Gold) but despite that, his owner, Nobuko Izumi, would always visit him and feed him, talk with him, and treat him as if he was her child. Because of that, Nakayama Festa calmed down and would always wait for his human mother to come However, one day she just topped and Nakayama Festa became rebellious again. However, the reason why the owner stopped visiting is because she was diagnosed with late stage cancer. The owner, knowing the end was near, visited her favorite country, France, and shortly passed away After the owner's death, her father, Shinichi Izumi, ended up inheriting Nakayama Festa and after learning the horse's bond with his daughter, he wanted him to live happily as that's what his daughter would've wanted. He brought his family members with him and they'd treat him like how Nobuko would. Then once again, he started to calmed down, like he understood Then, they decided to let Nakayama Festa run in the Prix de L'Arc. Not for glory or money, but because they wanted Nakayama Festa to run on the soil Nobuko loved so deeply He entered and it wasn't like he was a favorite or anything, Japan usually loses the Arc and so they didn't expect to win this time. However, like Nakayama Festa was being pushed by some sort of emotion, he galloped and by the final stretch, he was in second place and while he didn't win, he only lost by a head. This win was of course, celebrated heavily as Japan hasn't gotten this close since 1999 with El Condor Pasa.
