As a parent of a severely autistic child if my child sees something he wants or somewhere he wants to go he’ll go so if door was open he wouldn’t understand he can’t go in. But you handled it right x

my neighbour has a child who was autistic and non verbal, a few times he would run out of his door open my door, get himself an ice pop and then he would sit on my sofa get the remote and chill 😂

As a mum of a NV ASD child. The bigger fence would actually help me! I have locks and high fences all the way round my house. Even put an extra 6 foot bamboo screen at the bottom of my garden

I would move it because when your child is older you’ll be able to open the door and them go into the garden safely as I take it the side door is your access to your back garden x

As a mum of a very nosy daughter with autism, once she’s crossed a boundary it’s very hard to go back; in her mind if she’s allowed once, that’s it forever. Get that gate/fence up asap!

Just a tip for ink on sofa. Keep dapping with hand sanitiser. Make sure high in alcohol it will come out 👍😊 then use a fabric cleaner on the cushion after to freshen. Worked on mine came up new

You need a storm door. Don’t you Brits have storm doors? They are all glass (you can put a screen on in summer) or half metal half glass that is first door then the regular door.
