Because the song was popular in digital sales during the week of the album's release, it entered the Billboard Pop 100 chart for that week. The song was featured in the original film soundtrack for the 2008 film Twilight during the end credits. On the album, this song changed to "Bleed It Out". This single was released on July 15, 2008. In an interview with Kerrang! of the album, vocalist Chester Bennington said of the song, “We knew it was going to be a single from the start, so we worked really hard to make sure it had great lyrics. I sing 'pretend someone else can come and save me from myself' during the song because it's supposed to feel like an apology letter, like I'm moving on with my life but I want people to remember the good things and not bad things.
