The language we use to discuss men’s and women’s sports is unbalanced. Language might seem minor but it plays a key role in reinforcing stereotypes that limit how women’s sport is perceived. Studies reveal that when we describe men’s sports, the emphasis is on athleticism, strength, skill, and passion. In contrast, conversations around women’s sports often focus on participation and aesthetics, sidelining the athletic aspect entirely.
