I can't confirm about the IUD (don't have the appropriate equipment for those), my vasectomy was that way. Valium and Percocet for procedure prep. Was a bit awkward, but the Dr. was great.

As someone who has been out 30 plus years, I wish I would have had medics advocate like you do. Document every damn thing possible. Trust me in your 50s all of that comes in handy. USE EARPLUGS
