I used to do a local production tv show that had a couple of kids. I talked to parents every morning if kids weren’t feeling it, we changed our day plans to accommodate them. Kids need to be kids. 🥰

It's tough. When I was a kid, I always wanted to see other kids in movies and TV shows but I also think kids are too young to have a career and they should stay kids.

I have always thought kid actors in movies made more sense than a sitcom. Movie shoots for like a maximum 4 months where as a sitcom could he year round

Anna Kendrick had a similar thing talking about her first play as a kid. Near the end she said to her dad she needed a day off. He talked her out of it then saw what it did to her & felt awful later

I'm almost always in favor of fixing the problem rather than banning the thing. Child actors are fine but there have to be rules that protect them and those rules actually be strictly enforced.

It's this weird thing where it's unreasonable to say there shouldn't be any child characters in tv or film, but at the same time children should not have to go through all the things they do as actors. I'd say the change should be in the industry, not getting rid of child actors, but expecting all people in power not to abuse that power is sadly a losing game.

Between all the child abuse and having to grow up way too fast I couldn’t imagine letting my kid act. You can tell so many ex child stars keep their kids far from the Industry.

That’s the reason there really shouldn’t be. Either the kid can’t be a kid. Or we have to fuck up the ENTIRE production to allow for them to be a kid. Long term roles are not good for any non adult
