Therapy doesn't work for me. I'm severely self aware and know exactly all my root issues. I ended up feeling like the therapist isn't listening to what even bothers me still. smh

What if you can't cry? Is cry a metaphor for emoting?

I recently saw somewhere the statement that we often become the person/adult we needed as a kid. That hit hard and so true. The work I do for accessibility in my job is what I longed for and needed

So. Many. Tears. And when therapy is over, the wave of post-therapy exhaustion + low mood lasts for days. But I know it’s working, I’m singing again, I’m starting to separate myself from other 🟩

I feel like I can never tie the tears back to something and so nothing ever gets resolved. I just keep crying and it’s not cathartic, I don’t feel better after, and I don’t know why. I’m so tired

I have chronic illness and had to give up being a therapist/social worker too 😥 What has helped you? Are you significantly improved?

I don’t think anyone has explained this before. It’s hard to find a good trauma therapist

Is this still the case if you have BPD? The crying is hard because it feels like the world is ending

This happend with my second therapist. But she was triggering, just sitting there like a stone, not talking, not really reacting to anything. It was just reliving shit, I could not really do anything.

I’ve been crying lately doing morning pages about a thing that happened to me in my midtwenties. I wasn’t a kid, but I didn’t have the ability to cry and process the event. So I’m doing it now I guess

Several years ago I started spontaneously crying for no apparent reason. A little while later I accidentally started treating my alexythmia and did a ton of crying for all sorts of reasons. I often feel relief afterwards like it was struggling to get out. 💜

Question: how does therapy work for preverbal or even in utero trauma? are there therapists that subspecialize in that and u just have to find them?
