We actually know this tax structure works. See 1945-1984. It was the greatest expansion of economic growth in human history and the tax rates for the rich were sky high and inequality was low.

It’s not about punishing , it’s about ultra wealthy using tax loops , like never cashing the wealth and borrowing against it to avoid taxes, so why 90% of Americans pay tax for their income and wealthy avoiding it ? It’s more punishing average person
