I highly encourage a victim to work with a victim’s advocate as well. This way there’s a liaison between LE and prosecutor and victim. They can also do a victim impact statement at time of sentencing!

That said, few prosecutors will "drop" a viable charge just because a victim becomes uncooperative. The time to say "don't pursue thus" is before someone is arrested
