As someone who makes sourdough bread sourdough cookies and bars and muffins I throw most everything out that I make no one in my house eats it besides me but I know how many calories are in it sooooo

thank you for this, bc sometimes being told to “just count calories” (like maybe at the end of a tiktok…) ends up making me feel broken and worse. so addressing that there’s another way is nice 💜

My dietitian taught me to count protein instead of calories and it’s made all the difference. Now, I’m counting fiber, too. Occasionally, I’ll look at calories, but not for every meal. I feel better!

about a year of meticulously tracking calories has given me a pretty solid relationship with food. I'm able to estimate with reasonable accuracy how many calories I'm eating day to day.

Ive gotten to the point where its like a loose sum but i still have a hard time reaching my calorie limit due to eating Whole Foods like I cant reach my min calories for a day. But tracking helped me

I tracked my calories religiously for 6 months. and while I did lose 40lbs, it plummeted my mental health about food. but it did give me a good base line so now I can just estimate how much I eat.

Tracking my intake is a big trigger for me. So far I’ve lost 80 lbs with out tracking. I know if I tracked it would have been more but I am seeing positive progress and it’s not worth the risk….

for me, as someone who used to use food as a coping mechanism for all my issues. I look at the total macros of my food, now I worry about excessive sugar and unhealthy fats in my food. 1/2

I've dropped over 100 pounds in less than a year counting calories. and while proper nutrition will be important for me eventually, I think it's best for me to count calories forever still

Some people can definitely have major issues with it and I’m glad this also works. Me? I LOVE stats tracking. It’s like video game min maxing but in real life.

I can track without getting obsessive and just use it as a general guide. I make sure I'm getting enough protein and fiber that way.
