We were super excited to see this come to NYC, all the way from Hokkaido, Japan! We love Japanese cheesecake but the last Japanese cheesecake place (Uncle Tetsu’s) in NYC closed down a couple years ago. So the only place we’ve had it has been in Osaka, Japan, where the famous Rikuro’s Cheesecake has a very bouncy texture with lots of raisins in it 🍰 This opened up recently and what makes this different from American style cheesecake is that it’s very light, bouncy, airy, and not heavy at all. You definitely taste more of the egg flavor 🥚 We tried both the original and the chocolate cotton cheesecake flavor. You get two different textures from eating it. If you eat it hot and fresh, it’s very soft and bouncy. If you eat it cold, after putting it in the refrigerator, the texture becomes a little bit firmer and more creamy 🔥🧊 Our Verdict The original is definitely the way to go! It’s the softest and bounciest whereas the chocolate one tasted more dry. If you get the chocolate, it’s better when it’s cold. They are rather expensive for the size, but they’re good enough that we would get them again, just not very often. They’re also all the way in Flushing, but Flushing has so many other good eats to enjoy if you’re in that area.
