I absolutely love TROP. It’s really reverent fan fiction in my opinion. The show admitted up front it was going to stray in some ways, and the source material isn’t the full story anyway.

i keep seeing ppl say it doesn't "look" Tolkien like the PJ films... films that had the advantage of having lead artist who illustrated most books 'purists' have read,so OF COURSE it seems authentic

Heck, you could argue that the hobbit and parts of unfinished tales were drastic departure from Lord of the rings, and they were all written by Tolken himself

im curious, what did you think about the SPOILERS!!!!!! eagle arriving at Numenor and not uttering a word? if i recall, they can talk. i enjoy ROP, but i think this was a little weak

I was reading at a collegiate level by 5th grade but surprisingly never read Tollkien. I am blue collar and don't have the time to read anymore 😒 but intend to in the future (retirement) I will definitely be deep diving ALL of his works. 😊 Much thanks to you 😊

We’ve lost the art of analysis when we get caught up in our feelings. We should be asking what details inspired the artistic choices, what themes-ideas-parallels-mythologies & medieval/ancient arts.

I love both and there is nothing wrong with loving both. They are both adaptations of an extremely loved piece of work. For ROP though, season 2 is by far better than season 1.

Is it ok to say that the writing feels lacking in the show ? The spectacle and material I think are very epic .. but I just feel the depth of what could be achieved is really being missed and I can’t even fully articulate exactly where it just feels off, is that fair?

The second season is better than the first. Nothing will ever be as good as the PJ films. Even if he did those movies over again, he wouldn’t do it as well again. Hard to repeat. IMO 💚
