@aynsley_broom: This felt VERY scandalous to read when put in to context of the times. This was also about a year before my grandma was headed to South Africa. Throughout the letters L.D. Austin or as he writes in majority of the letters L.D.A. says he has written to a friend who had stayed in South Africa for a while to help my grandma with her move. What’s also interesting is him writing about a man trying to have an affair with two of his pupils (or at least that’s what it seems like), and here he is telling my grandma how she is never far from his thoughts and he thinks of her often. Anyways, this was something none of knew about lol. However, her parents were aware of L.D.A. cause in one of her letters to them from South Africa, she does mention he has written to her.
