the point of a door is to block one space from another. so closed = being used = on, open isn't being used so = off

Braxton Ackman :
A door is to separate so open door is off and closed is on because it’s doing what it’s made to do and separate you from what’s on other side

A door is meant to separate spaces. If a door is closed it is serving its purpose, hence it is “on”. If it’s open, it’s “off”

So you need to separate the door from the doorway, the doors purpose is to close the doorway therefore an open door is off

I'd argue the use of a door frame, is to pass through. the use of a door is to able to block of space until it's used. cams right in my head

The purpose of a door is to close off a space. If the door is closed it is on. If the door is open it is off as it is not performing its function.

the purpose of a door is to close off a room, to isolte it. otherwise there would be no door. so closed is on, open is off.

GeorgeIbzBiker :
The purpose of a door is to separate two spaces, otherwise it would simply be a hole in the wall. Therefore its use is to separate spaces, that is, when closed it does its job, so when closed it is ON

Think of circuits, open circuit lets energy through and it is on. That being said a door open and going through it would be on

Wth is the purpose of a door. A wall is to separate and an opening in said wall is to go through. A door provides both functions

A door/doorway, like a water faucet, would be on as it lets things flow through it. And it would be off as it restricts the flow through it’s “gateway”

okay but like a doors purpose is to close up a room so wouldn’t it be on when it’s closed because it’s doing what’s it’s used for which is closing up a room🤨

The answer is NO. On/off applies to things that have power or operations, or even clear functions. A standard door does not have anything resembling an on/off state.

The purpose of a door is to shut something in. Otherwise there wouldn’t be another door it would be a hallway

Jay :
Wouldn’t a door be a like a wall but can give you access to what the wall is seperating. So the door closed is (on) keeping it separated, but when you open it it stops separation(off).

see... the purpose of a door is to create a wall, or barricade one area from another... so, an open door is off.

closed door = wall
open door = entrance or the purpose of the door.
I would say open is on then.
