@screenwritinginla: I’ve always found this little clip on a young Scorsese so interesting. Clearly, he’s on something. He was at that time. He struggled with it for a time. But I also think it’s the look in his eyes when he talks about New York at night. You can tell how much the film means to him, how personal it is. He’s talked about how Taxi Driver came out of desperation and the need to explore that character - because he knew that character, Travis Bickle, was inside of himself. And you can kind of see all that turmoil in him in this little moment.
