@coach.bluee: Please hold our standard. This is a shame. And it makes me sad. How do we expect society to look at us like we are a bunch of “Badasses” when we can’t hold ourselves accountable. According to a recent report by the American Security Project, roughly 68% of active-duty US military service members are considered overweight or obese based on their Body Mass Index (BMI), meaning a significant portion of the military falls into the “fat” category. Calculation: Based on BMI, which takes into account height and weight. Trend: This number represents a significant increase in obesity rates within the military over the past decade. Let’s stop this now. Some jobs abuse you for 10-12hrs a day, allowing no gym time. For example, Flight Line maintenance while in other jobs, PT is your job.

Those standards are based on 1950’s medical records. I’m willing to bet the two guys in the video are overweight.

Bro come on we know those “overwheight” guys are jacked and bulky. You’re probably overweight by USMC standards.

“Overweight” is a loose term in the military tho. According to height and weight I was supposed to be 185lbs. I haven’t weighed under 200 since senior year and I’d max my ACFT

The standards need to be updated. My buddy has had to tape out for 16 years, he’s a 4 times body builder contest winner.. it’s a joke lol

Overweight doesn’t mean fat nor does it mean unhealthy by any means. Where I’m from it means you have plenty of muscle. And as medical I can say our weight standards are essentially pointless, for the lack of accounting for muscle mass (“but doc that’s why we tape” yeah news flash, the army does that wrong too 😌🫶🏼).

I max the ACFT and I’m “overweight” by military standards. While the skinny “fit” dudes get humbled by the deadlift.

“overweight” doesn’t even account for your individual body’s composition to tell if you’re really overweight or just pack a lot of muscle etc. also no active duty guy has to be in peak shape at 40
