@theisabelbrown: What used to be a normal milestone is now pushed back MONTHS, to supposedly accommodate for the average being later than previously estimated (ok, sure…). But are we really going to pretend like every adult in a baby’s life literally not talking to them & covering their faces 24/7 didn’t play into that? 🧐
I think people are spending less quality time with their kids.

It’s so schools and insurance companies have to provide fewer services for children with delays.

But aren’t kids also hitting puberty at younger ages too? How are kids developing slower, but also aging faster? 🧐

My daughter was born 2019 at 8 months she seemed to have seizure like symptoms. We had brain scans, spoke to neurologists and epilepsy specialists, but they found nothing. We now know she’s autistic..

No babies left behind. I also noticed that Walmart suddenly started carrying size 8 diapers. they used to stop at size 7. Seems like there's a delay in potty training as well.

I would bet the fact that many families needing both parents to work full-time has something to do with a push back in averages 😞

but isn't this due to less active parenting?

It's also because parenting has changed. we used to be able to afford to be home with the kids and have one on one time to help woth development. that's not possible for a lot of families

They removed crawling because not all babies crawl. My daughter Went straight from tummy time to walking at eight months old.

The guidelines were altered to account for when MOST kids reach milestones as opposed to the AVERAGE age that they meet them. They also ADDED milestones for 15 and 30 months.

My nephew is 2.5 and he talks SO much. Like to say someone his age should say 2-50 words is insane, because that kid can speak full sentences

Makes me wonder. Does it make sense that it’s ok to be late on all these milestones but they are expected to be ready for adding and subtracting in kindergarten? I didn’t learn that until 1st grade.
