“I really want to lose weight and tone up” Even though the term “toned” isn’t a legitimate descriptor from a scientific stand point, we can also come to an agreement that there’s a certain physique goal in mind here that is being envisioned by using the term. AKA less body fat and a visible change in overall body composition. So, how do we do this? ⚡️ BUILD MUSCLE Simply losing weight on the scale is not going to give you the physique that you’re envisioning. Dropping weight will give you the exact same look, just a smaller version. Of course, if that’s what you’re going for, then great! 👍 Otherwise, what you’re wanting requires you to put on some muscle (which obviously has tons of health benefits as well). ⚡️ HIGH PROTEIN DIET The nutrition component of this is a bit more complex than just high protein, but making sure you’re getting adequate protein is important. Aim for .8-1g per pound of bodyweight as a starting point. Protein helps build muscle and curb food cravings, from a surface level perspective. ⚡️ LIFTING HEAVY Unfortunately, there’s a misconception that getting “toned” means lighter weights for higher reps. This is not the case, and “toning” actually requires you to move some heavy weight. Shoot for at least 2-3 weight sessions a week to start. Still a little unsure how to achieve all of this? DM for 1-on-1 customized workout programs and nutrition plans 😇 #momswholift #boiseidaho #postpartumnutrition #workouttips #nutritiontips
