My perimenopause kicked my ADHD/anxiety into high gear and I started having panic attacks. I’m now on anti anxiety meds AND birth control. I finally feel better

My (undiagnosed) adhd really started to become crippling and dangerous when I started puberty. Then I created coping mechanisms to manage. Until they stopped working at 30. Only diagnosed at 33.

My osteopath told me he has ADHD and he chews gum and it helps. I'm like "cool I'm medicated and I still spend several days a month irrationally angry because nothing sounds like it will make me happy

I had to bring up that my meds didn’t work when on my period and then we additionally identified PMDD. My doc them confirmed it’s very common but it was left to me to bring up

Honestly, for me, it feels like something that is not even discussed with our doctors. It was never even an option. I was a daydreamer, I was lazy, I was everything BUT this.

The fact that there is a link between PMDD pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder and ADHD just reminds me how much hormones affects us and it’s not until in recent years research has been dedicated to this

I’ve started to suspect I have ADHD at the age of 46. My lack of concentration, chaotic time keeping and task management are all in super sharp focus.
