@recycldstardust: Replying to @💜Rena💜 Earning and wearing a Native American indigenous headdress hasn’t changed too much from how we used to do things. In order to wear a headdress you have to be given one as an honor or for doing something brave or impactful to your community. The larger the headdress the more important or more significant act you have done. Each feather represent some thing honorable in the same way someone in the military would earn a medal. so if you are an important person in the community you have gone towards done something impactful to the community did something honorable or otherwise worthy you can be given address and although they Very by tribe and how they look and what they’re made out of and also who can and can’t wear them some tribes to allow women to wear them not much has changed on how headdresses are used. #nativetiktok #nativeamerican #nativefamily
Thank you for this info! Are women recognized in a different way? Or, if not, what is the cultural reason for that? If you have time.
