My main tactic is to check the company website. If a job is on Indeed, but not the career section of the company website, I ignore the listing on Indeed. 🤷🏻♀️

It happens with smaller employers too. When my coworker asked for a raise, the boss posted her job. His attitude was that he was teaching her a lesson. He was taught one when we all quit.

I was lucky recently. Applied for job close to home. Then same day just showed up to put a face to the name. It worked! Doc said wow someone who shows up!

Crazy how I started with ambition and calling and going in person resumé in hand, never got the job. Apply online, never got the job. I’ve been told to apply online when I called or walked in😅🧐

ALSO companies are posting jobs they have no intention of hiring for. They already have someone in mind but are required to post it and interview others anyway. I've had some quick interviews w/this.

Do companies sell our information that we provide when applying for jobs? Because whenever I’m searching for a job I usually see an uptick in the amount of junk emails for sketchy websites.

He is telling the truth! I haven’t had an issue with finding jobs since I figured this out. Always go that extra mile to get into contact with the job you want to work for. Don’t just sit up there on indeed or any job listing sites to fill out a 5 minute application and then just “ hope” they magically find you and call you. No. No. No. Please, do your research. If you find a job listing, read the description, I always do extra background research about a job I’m applying with. Also! The huge tip he mentioned; CALL THEM! Find their personal websites, find their numbers, find their direct emails. So far out of college and I graduated 5+ yrs ago I have never had an issue finding a job like this new generation. And yes I still go on Indeed to find my jobs but even then, I would still always directly contact the employers. If I see a job listing, I will find that jobs specific main website and call them directly like I said. Works every, single TIME. Call them and ask about the recent job offer you have seen from them. Even tell them you applied and sometimes lie and say you are calling back because to set your interview date. They will fall for it and will literally forward you straight to the hiring manager QUICK! I always do this and have gotten a job or atleast got a call back and had no troubles!😂🙏🏾

The government doesn’t post ghost jobs, even though sometimes they have to post a job that they already have someone in mind for. Same with state jobs.

One time I went in person to bring my resume bc indeed glitched and couldn’t tell if it went through. They emailed me the next day and said coming in was totally unnecessary and I wont get the job 😅

There's a good number of larger companies out there that will actually toss your resume if you call them before they call you. Make sure It doesn't tell you not to contact them in the job post.

I actually did this. I had someone schedule a virtual interview through Indeed and then cancel it. When I reached to ask why, I was told that they put a pause on hiring right now.

A varient of ghost jobs as well: They advertise a higher position, but when they interview you, they are interviewing you for entry level, complete with entry level pay, and when you ask about this
